Inside the Studio: ABG T-Shirt Re-Launch

We are starting a new series on our blog that will feature a look behind-the-scenes of our latest projects! You will get a sneak peek into our world by how we come up with certain ideas, concepts, and of course, sharing the finished product with you.

For the past few months, we have been working with Issa Rae to come up with new designs for her hit web series, The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl! After wrapping up a successful first season, Issa Rae wanted something fresh for her t-shirt designs.

We took to our drawing pads, inspiration board, and a much-needed evening of Awkward Black Girl re-runs to stir up some creative ideas. By the end of the night, we decided that we wanted to come up with a few designs that incorporated the show, but were still stylish and versatile.

When designing t-shirts, you have to think of so many factors, like selecting the target audience, deciding whether the design will be easily understood, selecting font styles, making sure the design will be visible on various body types–it really is no joke!

The best thing we have adopted as our rule of thumb at Graphic Fiasco is to create things that we love. If it is something we are not proud of or won’t produce for ourselves, then we just don’t do it. Period. Fortunately, we have been able to work with clients who share our passion for simplicity and cutting edge design.

Check out the designs at the  Awkward Black Girl Store, and tell ‘em Graphic Fiasco sent you!
